We aren't caught up in your love affair
Since I spend most of my day listening to music on Spotify in order to get through the work day, I have been discovering new music.
Actually that's a lie, I've been listening to the same five songs on repeat all day. One of the songs is Royals by Lorde.
Everything about this song, I love. The music, the lyrics, the video, the accent. Yeeeah.

Can you feel it under your skin?
Can we just talk about this weekend. So much goodness.Friday, I went to The Happy Show at the Chicago Cultural Center. It is free and runs until end of September, so if you are in Chicago, you must must go. I loved the simplicity and truth, and there were interactive elements as well, including riding a bicycle and free gum. Always a plus.
Saturday, my high school friend visited me and somehow scored two free One Direction tickets! We joined preteen girls screaming over five boys who were not all that enthusiastic about their songs and seemed slightly hungover and grumpy. However seeing my friend for a day and dancing was so much fun. It made me slightly jealous of these preteen girls who seem to have no worries in my eyes, but then I remembered they were in middle school and all jealousy vanished.
Sunday, I went to see the Oh Hellos. Let me tell you, the Oh Hellos are great live! Maybe the best I've ever seen. They danced, laughed, jumped, and seemed so genuinely enthusiastic and joyful to play music with each other. I would definitely see them again, and I've been listening to their songs on repeat all day at work. The Lament of Eustace Scrubb was amazing live. Oh man that energy. The post title is from Second Child, Restless Child.
So that was a high. After reading my friends' blogs about their summers in Athens, Greece and cross country biking, I gotta be proud of my little moments of excitement even if they pale in comparison :)
I am weary from the restless heart inside of me
Wednesday night I heard Fun. perform at Taste of Chicago, and they were excellent. It did make me miss my friend who is studying abroad in Greece this summer. We went to their concert last year, and my button got stuck on her sweater while we were dancing up and down in the mosh pit singing along, and we had to stop in the dancing to fix it. It was a funny moment, two girls struggling to untangle their clothes surrounded by enthusiastic jumping people.
However this Wednesday there was no mosh pit or sweat, but rather fresh air and the Chicago skyline, which ain't so bad if you ask me.
On our walk to the bus, I passed one of my favorite Chicago bloggers! We passed each other at an intersection, and I didn't realize why she was familiar until a block down. And then I freaked out. I think I scared my friend with my intensity of happiness and shock. I wish I said something, but oh well.
Anywhoo the girl I passed has the lovely fashion blog Avant Blargh. Do check it out, she is very classy.

You be the match, imma be your fuse
At the end of the month I'm moving to a different apartment a block away. I'm living with four girls during senior year, and I am so excited. By the time we move in, we will have lived for a few months in a different country (France, Germany, Greece, Uganda, and Australia). We plan on placing maps of where we've lived on the walls of the living room. But that's all we got so far, so I've been looking at a lot of interior design blogs lately. Eefje de Coninck, one of my favorites, takes pictures of female artists' homes. I love the simplicity and color of these apartments (1, 2, 3). Well done.

I love tattoos. These are absolutely beautiful.

A collision of atoms that happens before your eyes
I recently received an amazing marketing summer internship.
I'll be workin' in the John Hancock building this summer.
What the what the what the what is life.
Looks like I be in Chi-town (or really Evanston) this summer again :)
So between that and general springtime giddiness, I feel pretty darn good about life right now.
So it is hard to find motivation to do homework.
I waste quite a lot of time.
This Time Wasting Experiment recounts how people actually spend their time.
It pretty much sums up my weekend.
Post title from Bravado by Lorde. She is great.

I got a love that keeps me waiting
Wait, this video. I love it so much. Work it. I be dancin like him during my study breaks.
Ah, he got the velcros
It is annoying to do that thing called homework again. But what gets me through is listening to Macklemore. Check out this video of Macklemore performing Same Love, Thrift Shop, and Can't Hold Us for npr music. He is a genius.
And the way you move, I won't close my eyes
Life is good.
Yesterday One Direction released a new album. Be still my heart.
This morning I had breakfast with my dad. We had a real breakfast at an American diner, eggs bacon pancakes.
Tomorrow night I will see The Lumineers in Paris. And I will probably cry.
Thursday I will leave for Amsterdam. I have always wanted to visit Amsterdam, I've heard it is beautiful, among other things.
I don't think this is real life.

And use my head alongside my heart
So I have been going a little insane. I go through moments of intense excitement and then complete panic. I may or may not have a word document of all the things I must walk around and visit when in Paris, organized by arrondissement...
I will keep my few readers (I'm looking at you parents) updated though, on here and on my study abroad program blog. This Fall I am excited to be blogging for IES, check out my first official post here! Yes, it is pretty much an extension of my annoying ramblings from this blog. Only this time I get paid doing it. Well not that much, but enough to stop at a few cafés in Paris :)
Photo of Paris from The Public Diary. Post title from I Will Wait by Mumford & Sons. I think we can all agree this song is amazing.

Ps can we talk about how great the boys of One Direction were at the Olympics? So so proud.
There's certain things in life you cannot change
What a refreshing summer snack. The Forest Feast is great for simple healthy recipes. I hope you have a relaxing weekend :) I plan on tanning and not going to Lolla.
Post title is from Yamaha by Delta Spirit. My friend is awesome and got on the guest list for their concert, so I got to see them for free last night at Lincoln Hall. They were great, although I think they were saving their energy for Lolla. I absolutely love everything about Yamaha. I get obsessive about certain songs... Check out their music video for California. So Skins. So hipster ;)
Nothing's fine, I'm torn
I'm not sure I should be admitting this...
So as we all know I love One Direction. To the point that when I heard they were giving out wristbands to 500 fans at 6 am at Barnes & Noble in order to get a book signed by the boys, I showed up with my friends at 6 pm at night. 12 hours baby. You'd think we were the first ones there, right? WRONG.
Over 500 girls had already showed up. Which parent allows their eight year old to spend the night at a mall?! Why?! We were promptly forced to leave by a security guard. And let me tell you, this security guard had major sass issues.
Why do I care so much? Because I am almost 20. Listening and obsessing over a boy band is the one thing (oh yes i did that) that keeps me tied to being young and immature. When that sassy overweight security guard (who looked fresh out of middle school) denied us the joy of staying up all night (1:27 is where its at) for just the chance of touching these boys, I felt like my childhood had been stepped on. Then thrown against the wall and shred into little bits.
Soon I'm gonna be in my 20s and will have to do classy things like eat in healthy portions, give confident handshakes, and go to bed before 2 on the weekends. I just want to be immature and carefree with the ability to passionately love a boy band who will never know of my existence, is that too much to ask for?

You're seeing right through me anyway
This song is too great. I'm pretty sure I'm getting my roommate annoyed because I play it so much. But it's just so relatable. I'm excited to see them at NU Dillo Day! Just have to survive classes til then :)
I just want you to know, I've been fighting to let you go
Three things that have been on my mind:
1. Now that I must dress like a real person certain days of the week for work, I try less hard slash not at all on all the other days... fail. I'm currently wearing sweatpants and a t shirt. This is a big deal for me. But now that the weather is changing, this attitude must change too. Inspiration: I love everything about this outfit.

2. You may hate One Direction, but you will change your mind after watching this adorable interview. Harry, I will speak French with you. Ecoute! Also oh Zayn. Btw my friend wrote her feelings about them here. There are so many great links on it if you ever just wanna lose yourself in the cuteness that is One Direction. She is seeing them in June (so jealous). And you think I'm obsessed?
3. I was really annoyed with the tv show Girls at first because there was absolutely no diversity (just like Friends and How I Met Your Mother... surely there is one non-white person in NYC?!) and the characters were entitled brats. But after watching the third episode, I find them much more relatable (I can't lie and say I have nothing in common with the post English major who can't find a job in NYC... I see my future clearly now). Also Allison Williams is gorgeous. Just stop it.
