Can you feel it under your skin?

Can we just talk about this weekend. So much goodness.

Friday, I went to The Happy Show at the Chicago Cultural Center.  It is free and runs until end of September, so if you are in Chicago, you must must go. I loved the simplicity and truth, and there were interactive elements as well, including riding a bicycle and free gum. Always a plus.

Saturday, my high school friend visited me and somehow scored two free One Direction tickets! We joined preteen girls screaming over five boys who were not all that enthusiastic about their songs and seemed slightly hungover and grumpy. However seeing my friend for a day and dancing was so much fun. It made me slightly jealous of these preteen girls who seem to have no worries in my eyes, but then I remembered they were in middle school and all jealousy vanished.

Sunday, I went to see the Oh Hellos. Let me tell you, the Oh Hellos are great live! Maybe the best I've ever seen. They danced, laughed, jumped, and seemed so genuinely enthusiastic and joyful to play music with each other. I would definitely see them again, and I've been listening to their songs on repeat all day at work. The Lament of Eustace Scrubb was amazing live. Oh man that energy. The post title is from Second Child, Restless Child.

So that was a high. After reading my friends' blogs about their summers in Athens, Greece and cross country biking, I gotta be proud of my little moments of excitement even if they pale in comparison :)

Don't think about the choices that you make

Some random life lessons I learned this quarter:

Light in August by William Faulkner is an amazing book. I have had moments of intense love and hatred for Faulkner. Mostly hatred.

The boys of 1D are so far removed from me, they can never let me down. Hence why I prefer them to reality. Except when Zayn possibly cheated on his girlfriend. That was a rough moment. I guess one can't be that beautiful without a few mishaps.

All you can eat sushi is dangerous. I should not order 15 roles and 7 appetizer between four people. I will feel sick, and I will find alternative ways to get rid of said sushi.

My hair cannot last for more than a day without washing, so please learn. I do not have the hair of Beyonce.

The best way to end the quarter is most definitely to have an impromptu dance party with my roommates.

I don't know how to cook. Have I had fruit this week? No. How many eggs have I had in the last three days? Way too many. And I don't even really like eggs.

There are a lot of things I hate about Texas. But there are also a lot of things I love about Texas. Like Friday Night Lights and my best friend from high school. She is beyond the coolest.

Winter quarter be gone. Nashville here I come :)

Post title from Landfill by Daughter. According to itunes, I have listened to this song 27 times this week.

And the way you move, I won't close my eyes

Life is good.

Yesterday One Direction released a new album. Be still my heart.

This morning I had breakfast with my dad. We had a real breakfast at an American diner, eggs bacon pancakes.

Tomorrow night I will see The Lumineers in Paris. And I will probably cry.

Thursday I will leave for Amsterdam. I have always wanted to visit Amsterdam, I've heard it is beautiful, among other things.

I don't think this is real life.

And use my head alongside my heart

So I have been going a little insane. I go through moments of intense excitement and then complete panic. I may or may not have a word document of all the things I must walk around and visit when in Paris, organized by arrondissement...

I will keep my few readers (I'm looking at you parents) updated though, on here and on my study abroad program blog.  This Fall I am excited to be blogging for IES, check out my first official post here!  Yes, it is pretty much an extension of my annoying ramblings from this blog.  Only this time I get paid doing it. Well not that much, but enough to stop at a few cafés in Paris :)

Photo of Paris from The Public Diary. Post title from I Will Wait by Mumford & Sons. I think we can all agree this song is amazing.

Ps can we talk about how great the boys of One Direction were at the Olympics? So so proud.

I just want you to know, I've been fighting to let you go

Three things that have been on my mind:

1. Now that I must dress like a real person certain days of the week for work, I try less hard slash not at all on all the other days... fail. I'm currently wearing sweatpants and a t shirt. This is a big deal for me. But now that the weather is changing, this attitude must change too. Inspiration: I love everything about this outfit.

2. You may hate One Direction, but you will change your mind after watching this adorable interview. Harry, I will speak French with you. Ecoute! Also oh Zayn. Btw my friend wrote her feelings about them here. There are so many great links on it if you ever just wanna lose yourself in the cuteness that is One Direction. She is seeing them in June (so jealous). And you think I'm obsessed?

3. I was really annoyed with the tv show Girls at first because there was absolutely no diversity (just like Friends and How I Met Your Mother... surely there is one non-white person in NYC?!) and the characters were entitled brats. But after watching the third episode, I find them much more relatable (I can't lie and say I have nothing in common with the post English major who can't find a job in NYC... I see my future clearly now). Also Allison Williams is gorgeous. Just stop it.
