This mystery only leads to doubt

Today I get the keys to my new apartment! It is so odd that this now empty apartment will contain some of my future and final memories of college.

Enough sentiment. This lovely apartment belongs to a textile designer who lives in Brooklyn. Look at that bookcase.

You be the match, imma be your fuse

At the end of the month I'm moving to a different apartment a block away. I'm living with four girls during senior year, and I am so excited. By the time we move in, we will have lived for a few months in a different country (France, Germany, Greece, Uganda, and Australia). We plan on placing maps of where we've lived on the walls of the living room. But that's all we got so far, so I've been looking at a lot of interior design blogs lately. Eefje de Coninck, one of my favorites, takes pictures of female artists' homes. I love the simplicity and color of these apartments (1, 2, 3). Well done.

She may contain the urge to run away

I'm not really sure what this blog is, now that I have returned to the Etats-Unis, and now that my life has returned to a boring yet contented normalcy. So I think it will once again be anything I want, anything that inspires me, but with less personal musings.

Here I present you with a beautiful apartment, owned by this dude. Look and desire. Is it sad that one of my thoughts while looking at these is jealousy? Jealousy to have that apartment, but mostly to open the windows and have warm air flow through the apartment. I shouldn't be complaining, I only had to wear one pair of pants today...

I want it, I need it, I want your eyes to turn

Merry Christmas Eve! I'll be back in Paris in a week to say my final goodbye. But right now my dad and I are in Lausanne, Switzerland. A friend gave us her apartment while she and her husband are out of town. She has a pretty amazing blog, Lavender & Onions. Trust me, you wanna check it out. Fun fact, her mother was my fifth grade teacher, and one of my favorite teachers  of all time :)

For now I leave you with the view from her apartment. Just stop.

Our hands and feet and ordinary thrills

With any luck I am in Paris. And hopefully attempting to catch an overnight train to Barcelona. I have preposted this, hence why I am not completely sure that I am alive while I write this.

Here is a beautiful interior of a Paris apartment. Ooh I would love to live here :)

I've been trying to do it right, I've been living a lonely life

This beautiful photography comes from Lovely Ember. My sister is coming over tomorrow! Maybe she can make me a classy meal like the photo above, which will be a break from my pasta and chicken nuggets.

My apartment has recently become a youth hostel. Good thing about a queen size bed: you can sleep all over the place. Bad thing: you can't make people sleep on the couch... it's awkward, and they may think you are mean. But no worries, I was starting to get lonely in a room by myself. It is strange to be alone at night, almost creepy. I guess the benefits are that you get to dance and sing whenever you feel the urge. But I already did that anyway when I had a roommate. My roommate from last year is still in Evanston, and the guard at her apt building (yes they have a guard... what?) lets me in now without a hassle because he probably thinks I live there...

I'll make coffee and you'll read the paper

The moving process is slowly coming along. Very slowly. Unfortunately my current apartment looks nothing like the one below. But I can dream. This beautiful home belongs to Julie Pointer who works for Kinfolk Magazine.

The further out you look, the further out you'll be

This may be my favorite video ever. Can I please be her? I posted her photography earlier, when she traveled in Europe for a year. Also check out how adorable she and her boyfriend are. Sigh. The post title comes from the song in the video, The Next Time Around by Little Joy.

Have a lovely weekend! I shall be moving into my first apartment tomorrow! Ooh ooh.

What to do, what to do

So I am in this perpetual state of freaking out about the future.  Hence why blogging has been at a lull.  When am I studying abroad, what should my future profession be, where should I live next year?  You know when you have dreamed about things so long, that you can't believe they may happen so soon?  I remember sitting in government class in high school, wishing to be anywhere but there, wishing to be grown up in a city with my own apartment... which would be next year.  Crazy.  Well I guess Evanston isn't quite the big city, but it is definitely a change from high school :)

So maybe my apartment won't look like this next year, but after I make bank in NYC (duh) in 10 years, it'll look something like the following.
