My heart is breathing for this moment

Last night, which should have consisted of writing a paper and studying for a midterm, ended up being a dance session with friends featuring past and present boy bands. So worth it. What better way to get through winter quarter? (post title from Moments by One Direction...I melt when I listen to this song. No judgment.)

Anywhoo check out this lovely lookbook by DSquared2 via Honestly...WTF. It reminds me of  1960s London. Perfect combination of elegant and sexy. I am especially loving that last black dress. Yes please. (Click on image to zoom)

Watching telly, drinking wine

Happy holidays!  If your holidays have been anything like mine, the idea of getting up and celebrating New Year's Eve sounds exhausting.  Moving off that spot on the couch and putting on something semi decent?  Oof, sounds like hard work.  Depending on how fancy your party plans are that night, here are some outfit ideas... from casual to classy.  (I would choose the first outfit for myself... with a winter coat of course.  Imagining that outfit with the Chicago wind makes me hyperventilate.)

These lovely outfits are from Tulip Louise, Le Blog de Betty, Atlantic-Pacific, and This Time Tomorrow. Blog title from Who'd Have Known by Lily Allen.

and finally a lovely message from Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt for the New Years :)

One day

Fail on posting this month.  Oops.  This time tomorrow I shall be in Dallas with my parents :) I cannot wait to watch Downton Abbey with my mom and play chess with my dad!!  They are the cutest parents ever. To prepare myself for Texas I looked up the weather; the high for tomorrow is 68...  I cannot even fathom. I'm excited to put away my coat for a bit and break out the loafers.

Before going home, I took a few days to be in Chicago without school.  Yesterday I went to the Loop to shop for family Christmas presents, and of course I got lost.  If you're wondering, the 22 bus does not go up the same street that it goes down.  Struggle.  While I wondered around for 15 minutes and hyperventilated, I stalked everyone leaving their fancy jobs downtown.  I saw this one girl walk out of the Chicago Tribune Tower with her high heel boots and Marc Jacobs bag, and I just about passed out.  What a life.  Some fancier work wear that I hope to someday wear:

City life

Chicago is so cool!  I am in love.  This weekend I went with a friend to this beautiful vintage independent movie theater near Wrigley Field called the Music Box Theatre.  We saw this French film called Love Crime, which was brilliant yet very dark.  I also ate at some great restaurants this weekend:  Uncommon Ground if you are looking for natural unique food, Carmine's if you want a classy Italian dinner, and Cozy Noodles and Rice in Evanston, yummy and quirky.

And if that's not enough to make me obsessed with this city, I'm also so excited to go next month to the special presentation at the Chicago International Film Festival of Like Crazy, that movie I was raving about a few posts ago!!! I cannot wait.  Apparently it is rumored that Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones, the lead actor and actress, will be there!  I am trying not to get my hopes up, but I'm afraid it is too late for that.

Some options I envision wearing for this event, black dress and a trench coat or jeans and a loose blouse:

That little black dress

This is such a cool video.  One black dress, so many cute outfits.  I especially love the second outfit.  I found it via HelloGiggles.

I can't think of a blog title right now

Let's talk about some things that make me happy.  Why do you care?  Well this is my blog so you have no choice.  First I love belts.

Next I love black dresses.  I recently got one from Banana Republic for $20.  Think about it.

I am also very excited for Fall weather.  I look at my new blazer and mini trench coat, and I get all excited about Autumn in Chicago.  Btw big dog in next picture scares me.

And finally, just a few little things that make everything better:
