I've been walking through the mountains, I've wandered through the trees

I love this home in Antwerp. It is so simple and full of light. I found the photographs through Eefje de Coninck who views an individual's decoration and home as an artistic expression of that person's character. Check out more photographs and the interview here.

I had nothing to lose and I had nothing to prove

Yesterday my friend met up with me during my lunch break to check out the Poetry Foundation's free exhibit, Images of Afghanistan.  The exhibit showcased landays, a form of oral folk poetry that is often one of the few forms of expression for women in Afghanistan. The exhibit is over now, but definitely check out the articles on Pulitzercenter.org because these poems should be read.

The exhibit was small and simple but informative.  What I really enjoyed was the space, the physical building of the Poetry Foundation. I had applied for an internship there a few years ago to no success so that's a little awkward now. But man, wouldn't it be amazing to work in that space. I will definitely have to come back during my lunch breaks to sit and read some Adrienne Rich in that library. Yep, Chicago has some gems.

This mystery only leads to doubt

Today I get the keys to my new apartment! It is so odd that this now empty apartment will contain some of my future and final memories of college.

Enough sentiment. This lovely apartment belongs to a textile designer who lives in Brooklyn. Look at that bookcase.

You be the match, imma be your fuse

At the end of the month I'm moving to a different apartment a block away. I'm living with four girls during senior year, and I am so excited. By the time we move in, we will have lived for a few months in a different country (France, Germany, Greece, Uganda, and Australia). We plan on placing maps of where we've lived on the walls of the living room. But that's all we got so far, so I've been looking at a lot of interior design blogs lately. Eefje de Coninck, one of my favorites, takes pictures of female artists' homes. I love the simplicity and color of these apartments (1, 2, 3). Well done.

She may contain the urge to run away

I'm not really sure what this blog is, now that I have returned to the Etats-Unis, and now that my life has returned to a boring yet contented normalcy. So I think it will once again be anything I want, anything that inspires me, but with less personal musings.

Here I present you with a beautiful apartment, owned by this dude. Look and desire. Is it sad that one of my thoughts while looking at these is jealousy? Jealousy to have that apartment, but mostly to open the windows and have warm air flow through the apartment. I shouldn't be complaining, I only had to wear one pair of pants today...

Our hands and feet and ordinary thrills

With any luck I am in Paris. And hopefully attempting to catch an overnight train to Barcelona. I have preposted this, hence why I am not completely sure that I am alive while I write this.

Here is a beautiful interior of a Paris apartment. Ooh I would love to live here :)

I gave her my heart, but she wanted my soul

It's hard to feel really settled in my room, since I'm just leaving in a month, but I've put a few pictures up on the wall. Last night my friend described my look as minimalist (definitely what I was going for). Anyone who saw my dorm room last year knows it was anything but minimalist (pictures all over the wall, falling on top of me when I slept). But for now, I can live with it.

I know I keep posting pictures of people's homes, I'm obsessed. I love this one, with the simple colors and potted plants. Oh and the clean dishes of course.

Gonna take my cares away

This actress, Ashley Madekwe, has really great style in fashion and interior design.  All these photos come from Refinery 29. Check out her personal fashion blog, Ring My Bell. Some people are really cool.

I'll make coffee and you'll read the paper

The moving process is slowly coming along. Very slowly. Unfortunately my current apartment looks nothing like the one below. But I can dream. This beautiful home belongs to Julie Pointer who works for Kinfolk Magazine.

I know that I'm not all that you got

Things that I wouldn't mind having:

This girl's scarf and attitude.

Iced coffee and red lips.

Springtime dinner parties on the porch.

A beautiful wedding... in 10 years.

A bright kitchen in the city.
